Independent Research Projects
John Jaeger is a North Babylon based Independent Environmental Researcher. John Jaeger has mentored fellow researchers on a variety of independent research projects. As part of a DNA Barcoding experiment, Jaeger mentored researchers on a project analyzing the impact and effects of Southern Pine Beetles in the Soil Invertebrate Diversity of the LI Pine Barrens. One of the very few Pine Barrens to exist in the world, the LI Pine Barren location is paramount to the biodiversity of the area. Unfortunately, the Southern Pine Beetles are an incredible invasive pest that risk the destruction of trees in a very short period of time. Through activity of this environmental research project, John Jaeger and his team explored options and methods for mitigating the damage caused by Southern Pine Beetles in terms of local soil biodiversity.
